The most troubling part of White Knight Chronicles is its annoyingly banal story. Luckily White Knight Chronicles 2 was announced last year, and Level 5 has the opportunity to develop the game they should have made originally. Rather than pursuing any of those ideas though, the game simplifies them, or over uses them, while never letting them evolve into truly interesting ideas. How exasperated and disappointed I felt when White Knight Chronicles turned out to be an uninspired, boring cliche of a game.ĭespite its faults, every portion of White Knight Chronicles does show the potential to grow into something great. By the time the game was finally available I had nearly forgotten about my initial excitement. In 2008 the game was released in Japan, but it would take two more long years before it would reach the shores of any other region. That first trailer was extremely impressive, and ultimately became one of my top reasons for purchasing a PlayStation 3. White Knight Chronicles 2 will make its way to North American shores this summer exclusively for Playstation 3.White Knight Chronicles was initially announced at the Tokyo Game Show in 2006. With over 400 weapons and armor, White Knight Chronicles 2’s online component features new and improved mechanics, including the ability for players to create a custom Knight for their avatars. Different, however, is that unlike the Japanese version which requires a completed save file from the first game in order to start the second title, the North American version will allow players to jump right into the sequel’s story if they wish without any prerequisite. Like its Japanese counterpart, White Knight Chronicles 2 will come packaged with a revamped version of the first White Knight Chronicles game.
We now know this to be because the localization of the sequel is going to be handled by D3Publisher instead of SCEA.
After SCEE’s announcement of White Knight Chronicles 2 for Europe, speculation over its eventual release in North America left many wondering why SCEA had not made any statement in regards to this.
